The Kbiosystems fully automated colony pickers ensure reliable, consistent identification and extraction for sample recovery, and are available in many configurations to suit any laboratory. Offering complete versatility, the K63 and K8 series colony pickers will work with a wide range of plates. These modular systems make capacity increase easy, with simple upgrades to source and destination capacities.
Precise, reliable and consistent extraction
Picking accuracy is in excess of 98.5%. The use of different pin types allow transfer volumes to be defined and all pins are manufactured in 316 stainless steel for ease of cleaning and longevity.
Flexible plate compatibility
The K63 and K8 series colony pickers will work with a wide range of plates for both source and destination, such as microplates (96, 384 shallow and deep-well formats), Petri Dishes (4 – 15 cm), Omni style trays, multi-well growth plates and bioassay trays.
Configuration options to increase capacity
The K63 and K8 systems are available in three configurations. That is the picker only, XT picker with automated destination plates (single or dual lane) and XL picker with automated source trays and destination plates (single or dual lane). The complete K8 XL dual lane system allows the processing of up to 84,480 picked colonies.

Features
Accurate, efficient robotics
System drive has full positional feedback to improve accuracy and speed, providing a picking accuracy in excess of 98.5%.
Flexible, reliable and robust
Use of different pin types allow transfer volumes to be defined. All pins are manufactured in 316 stainless steel for ease of cleaning and longevity.
Light and fluorescent imaging options
Imaging is carried out via a USB3 camera system allowing the software algorithms to detect monochromatic scale for standard picking and optional colour differential between emitting organisms, if required. By fitting an optional fibre optic fluorescent excitation light source and emission camera filters, multiple dye ranges can be visualised.
Upgradeable modular systems futureproofing your workflow
The K63 and K8 colony pickers range in size and throughput ability, offering the user the ability to step up from hand picking to first stage automation. The modular system design makes increases in system capacity easy, with simple upgrades to source and destination capacities.
Increasing capacity with additional automation
An increase in operational capacity is offered with the option to fit one or two destination plate automation lanes. These allow the processing of up to 220 standard destination plates and up to 60 deep well blocks. Second stage automation allows the automatic handling of 8 source tray locations.
